Join the post-passeggiata throngs for an aperitivo in Piazza Tasso; buzzy Fauno Bar, see 2, is the best place to kick off your evening. From here it’s a 20-minute walk down to Marina Grande J [map]. Make your way to Piazza della Vittoria and follow Via Marina Grande down to the harbour, confusingly called Marina Grande, the ‘Big Port’, as opposed to Marina Piccola, or ‘Little Port’: it is in fact the smaller and more down-at-heel of the two, but all the more charming for it. The tiny church of Sant’Anna in the harbour, with an array of ex-votos, is sometimes atmospherically candlelit at night.

The harbour is one of the most authentic corners of Sorrento. In the evening, the restaurants that hog the waterfront twinkle invitingly; for atmosphere, Da Emilia, see 3, is hard to beat.
